GMC Truck Owner Gets Friendly and Fast Service at Ralph’s Transmission

A Ralph's technician works on a part that is separated from the vehicle.Crystal drives a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 with almost 200,000 miles on it. She recently started experiencing some serious transmission problems. When the engine was warmed up, it would not shift into forward or reverse gears. Crystal had been to Ralph’s Transmission in the past, so she knew she could trust our team with the transmission inspection and repairs.

We arranged to have Crystal’s truck towed to our shop in Modesto. A road test confirmed the same issues that she was describing and the external inspection revealed multiple fluid leaks and other issues that were concerning. The transmission was removed from the vehicle and a full internal inspection was performed. The main problem discovered was the front planet bearing had failed. This led to additional internal damage to a number of different components, including the torque converter, shift solenoids, low roller clutch, valve body plate, forward accumulator piston, manifold pressure switch and more. The rear main engine seal and various other gaskets/seals needed to be replaced, as well.

A full custom transmission rebuild was recommended to replace all the damaged parts and rebuild the truck’s transmission completely. Our expert technicians took care of all the work and were able to get Crystal back on the road within a couple days. The rebuild was backed by our 3 Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty.

“They are very friendly and fast. Had our truck up and ready in 2 days,” Crystal writes in her Google review. “Erica was great!! Her kindness was beyond expectations!! 2nd vehicle I’ve taken to Ralph’s and never had an issue.”

In addition to all the transmission problems, our technicians also found a pinion seal leak on the rear differential of the truck. We referred Crystal to a local specialty automotive shop to handle that repair.
