Chevy Owner Gets Used Transmission Rebuilt at Ralph’s Transmission

Adam owns a 2004 Chevy Suburban with more than 200,000 miles on it. Fairly recently, he had the transmission replaced at another shop with a used transmission. Unfortunately, he started experiencing problems soon after it was installed. Having been to Ralph’s Transmission before for a transmission rebuild on his Jeep Wrangler, he wanted to get our expert technicians to look at his Suburban and determine the problems.

At first, Adam started hearing grinding noises and then the vehicle wasn’t able to get into gear at all. We arranged to tow the Suburban to our Modesto shop for further inspection. It was immediately evident that the used transmission had some serious issues and wasn’t very well installed. There was a major leak detected and a number of different fault codes came up during diagnostic testing.

The transmission technicians at Ralph’s Transmission pulled the transmission from the vehicle for a complete internal inspection. Several components were damaged, including the front planet input hub bearing, the 2/4 band, the sun shell and valve body plate. This is always a concern with installing a used transmission. Fortunately, much of the transmission was salvageable, so we recommended a full custom rebuild.

Every transmission rebuild we perform at Ralph’s Transmission is backed by our 3 Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty to give you the peace of mind that you deserve after major transmission repairs. The used transmission Adam installed had no such warranty and he knew the risks he was taking. Still, it is really frustrating that he had to experience problems with it almost immediately. A full rebuild is often the best solution to get a damaged transmission repaired and running like new again. All worn parts are replaced and all good parts are cleaned and reinstalled to make sure everything is working correctly.

“Customer service is awesome. That alone is worth it,” Adam writes in his recent Google review of Ralph’s Transmission. “They take care of all situations you may run into. Highly recommend.”

In the end, Adam’s used transmission is basically new again after being rebuilt by the Central Valley transmission experts at Ralph’s Transmission. Even if he experiences any complications, he can rest assured knowing it is covered by our excellent warranty program.
