55 Years and Counting!

A selection of Ralph's technicians holding up various awards.Did you know that 2024 represents the 55th anniversary of Ralph’s Transmission. Our transmission repair shop has been at the same location on 9th Street in downtown Modesto since 1969. The building has changed and evolved throughout the years—and so has ownership—but the family-focused legacy hasn’t. In fact, our reputation is better than ever!

A Brief History of Ralph’s Transmission

Ralph Perry opened a small transmission repair shop back in 1969. He picked a great location in Modesto and was able to serve customers all throughout the Central Valley. This area has grown so much over the past 55 years, while Ralph’s Transmission remained a constant in the heart of the valley. The shop continued to provide quality transmission repair and maintenance services decade after decade.

Family Owned and Operated

One thing that has always helped Ralph’s Transmission stand apart is the fact it is a family-owned business. We are not a big franchise chain and we never will be. We are proud to be family owned and operated, serving local residents and staying focused on providing quality customer service. Being an independent business allows us to stay committed to these goals without ever having to compromise our core values.

A New Direction

Unfortunately, the business started falling on some tough times in the early 2000s and Ralph was ready to retire. Thankfully, he found another local family to take over the ownership. Mario and Maria Jauregui have lived in the Central Valley most of their lives and have owned other successful transmission shops in the region. This is where they have raised their own six children, several of whom now work at Ralph’s Transmission. They were very familiar with the strong history and reputation of this local transmission shop. It was the perfect opportunity to continue a family legacy and breathe new life into the business. With new marketing, all new equipment, and a full renovation of the shop later, you get the distinctive black and red Ralph’s Transmission brand you know today.

In addition to these changes, the Jaureguis added more comprehensive transmission repair services. This includes the ability to perform full custom transmission rebuilds in the shop. We have rebuild experts who apply their knowledge and skills to properly rebuild transmissions. This is why we are able to offer an industry-leading 3 Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty program on all rebuilt transmissions.

Truck Transmission Specialists

We have also put more of an emphasis on truck transmission repair. Part of the facility renovation was installing heavy duty lifts throughout the shop in order to handle larger trucks, SUVs, cargo vans, utility vehicles and a wide variety of work vehicles. We love trucks and have become known as the area’s leading truck transmission specialists. We also offer fleet account services, special financing programs and a variety of other services to meet our customers’ transmission care needs.

Even with these updates, the core values of Ralph’s Transmission will never change. Quality customer service will always be our top priority every single day.
