GMC Owner Appreciates Honest Service at Ralph’s Transmission
Alex drives a 2002 GMC Yukon Denali with over 180,000 miles on it. He recently started noticing that the vehicle would slip in and out of gear when driving 25-30 MPH. He contacted Ralph’s Transmission in Modesto for help with his transmission problem.
After towing the SUV to our shop, our technicians were able to run diagnostic tests, perform a road test and complete a thorough external inspection of the transmission system. The road test confirmed the slipping issue that Alex described. The inspection revealed that the transmission fluid was very discolored, which is a common sign of a significant internal problem. The engine was also leaking oil from the rear main engine seal and an exhaust seal.
Our technicians had to remove the transmission from the vehicle for a full internal inspection. As expected, the 3-4 clutch was burnt. Other internal components were damaged, as well, including the torque converter, several solenoids, boost valve and accumulator pistons. Our recommendation was to rebuild the transmission. We replaced all the damaged parts and rebuilt the entire transmission from the ground up. We back every custom transmission rebuild with the Ralph’s Transmission 3 Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty to give customers like Alex added peace of mind.
“Not the cheapest, but the best in my opinion,” Alex says. “My Denali’s transmission went out on Tuesday. They picked it up got it fixed by Friday. Honest, respectful, and they tell you exactly what they are doing and show you the cost of every part. I would recommend this shop to anybody that needs transmission and drivetrain work.”
In addition to the transmission rebuild, the Ralph’s Transmission team replaced the rear main engine cover/seal and exhaust pipe clamp/seal to resolve the oil leaks. The transfer case input seal also had to be replaced.
