Ford SUV Owner Appreciates Help from Ralph’s Transmission Service Advisor

Sabrina drives a 2016 Ford Escape with well over 100,000 miles on it. Recently, she was driving and noticed a few issues. First, her transmission service light came on. At the same time, she noticed that the vehicle seemed like it was really struggling to shift between gears. Sabrina called Ralph’s Transmission and spoke with Erika Alcazar, one of our incredible customer service advisors.

After Sabrina explained her situation with her compact SUV, Erika arranged a free tow from Salida to our shop in Modesto. In case you didn’t already know, Ralph’s Transmission offers free towing to anyone located within 30 miles of our transmission repair center. We’ll also help arrange rides to and from our shop, so you can get to work, school or home while your vehicle is being worked on.

“A big thank you to Erika for being so patient with me,” writes Sabrina in her recent Google review. “I really appreciated it more that you can believe.”

Once the Escape was in our shop, Erika walked Sabrina through the Ralph’s Transmission free transmission inspection and diagnostics process. Then, our transmission technicians did what they do best. Diagnostic testing revealed no fault codes, but burnt transmission fluid signified there was an internal problem. Further internal inspection of the Ford transmission revealed that the torque converter was failing and needed to be replaced. This is a fairly common issue in an automatic transmission vehicle with this many miles on it.

A damaged torque converter will usually also lead to additional damage within the transmission. In Sabrina’s case, numerous components needed to be replaced or repaired. Our recommendation was a full custom transmission rebuild. The transmission was completely disassembled and rebuilt from the ground up by our transmission rebuild experts. This process ensures that all damaged or worn parts are replaced and any good component is properly cleaned and reinstalled. The goal is to make the transmission run like new again, which is why we back all our transmission rebuilds with the Ralph’s Transmission 3 Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty program.

“Very quick turnaround and it’s so nice to be back in my car,” Sabrina adds. “I will definitely be back if I ever have transmission problems again.”
