Free Transmission Inspections at Ralph’s Transmission

If you live in the Central Valley, you may already know the Ralph’s Transmission name from our billboards and radio ads. You may even know our slogan “A Commitment to Quality Since 1969” and about our 3 Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty on all transmission rebuilds. What you may not know is that we offer free initial transmission inspections.

That’s right. We said FREE!

What Does a Free Transmission Inspection Include?

If you think you might have a transmission problem or just want to get a little peace of mind because you haven’t had your transmission inspected in awhile (or ever), bring your car, truck or SUV into Ralph’s Transmission in Modesto for a free external inspection.

So, what does this initial inspection include? It starts with diagnostic testing using the latest technology. We connect to your vehicle’s computer system and look for any “fault codes” related to the transmission or drivetrain. If we find something else that isn’t a transmission concern, we will let you know so you can take your vehicle to a general auto shop or dealership for further inspection. We are transmission and drivetrain specialists at Ralph’s Transmission and these specific systems are our focus when it comes to inspections.

Physical Inspection and Road Testing

Then, one of our experienced transmission technicians will look over the transmission. We are looking for any cracks, loose connections, worn seals and fluid leaks. We will inspect the transmission fluid itself to make sure it is filled to the proper level and that the fluid is of good quality. If it looks burnt or has any other contaminants, those can be signs of internal transmission damage that may require further inspection.

If you are experiencing any transmission issues  (slipping/grinding gears, sluggish acceleration, strange sounds/smells, not engaging in specific gears, etc.) or something concerning is found during the diagnostic testing or initial inspection, we will perform a road test. Our goal is to replicate any problems you are describing, so we can better determine the source of the issue.

Inspection Report and Recommended Services

We will present all of our initial inspection, diagnostic and road test findings to you in a detailed transmission inspection report. This is all free to you. If there is a more significant problem that requires a full internal inspection, we will let you know the time and costs associated with that or any other services that are recommended. An internal inspection requires the technicians to remove the transmission unit from the vehicle and open it up. It’s a much more involved process, but is sometimes necessary. We won’t proceed to this step without your complete authorization.

Last but not least, we should mention that we also offer free towing services for customers within 30 miles of our Modesto shop. This may be helpful if you are experiencing major transmission issues or if the vehicle won’t drive at all. We’ll get it to our shop for the initial inspection. We can also help arrange shuttle or rideshare services to customers who aren’t able to wait at the shop.

At Ralph’s Transmission, we’re here to help with all your transmission needs. Call us today at 209.526.1909 or schedule your service appointment online to book your free initial transmission inspection.
