GMC Truck Owner Knows He Can Count on Ralph’s Transmission

Tony and Belinda have been to Ralph’s Transmission before for transmission repair services. In face, they had the transmission rebuilt in their Chevy Trailblazer back in 2019. Recently, they came into our Modesto shop because their 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD was having trouble shifting. It would stay stuck in reverse gear and wouldn’t engage properly in forward gears. They knew they had to bring their truck in for a professional transmission inspection and diagnosis.

Ralph’s Transmission arranged for a free tow to transport the truck. An attempted road test confirmed the shifting issues Tony was describing. Diagnostic tests revealed a number of different fault codes and the fluid check showed the transmission fluid was dark and discolored. The primary problem found once the vehicle was on the lift was that the shifter cable was broken. That clearly explained why the Sierra wouldn’t shift out of reverse gear.

The shifter cable needed to be replaced and a standard transmission service was recommended since the fluid was so discolored. Both the upper shifter cable and transmission range selector lever cable were replaced with new parts. Then, the transmission pan was removed and cleaned. The synthetic transmission fluid, filter and pan gasket were all changed out as is standard with our transmission maintenance service.

Once the work was complete, a road test was performed to make sure everything was working properly. We were able to get Tony back on the road the next day with warranty coverage on both repair services performed.
