Ford Expedition Owner Gets Transmission Rebuilt for California Road Trip

Ben and Holly are from Utah and were visiting California while on vacation. While driving through the Modesto area, they began experiencing transmission problems in their 2014 Ford Expedition. The SUV’s transmission was slipping in higher gears and was struggling when driving at higher speeds. After doing their research and calling around to local auto repair shops, they decided to bring their vehicle to the local transmission experts at Ralph’s Transmission.

“So thankful that Ralph’s could get us back on the road,” Ben says. “We live in Utah and had a major transmission failure on vacation.”

We understand dealing with transmission trouble is never a fun situation, especially when trying to enjoy a vacation. Our goal for Ben and Holly was to make sure their transmission was repaired properly and they could get back safely on the road for the rest of their trip. The road test confirmed the transmission slipping issue they were experiencing. Diagnostic tests revealed fault codes relating to the Powertrain Control Module and Engine Overspeed Condition. A physical inspection showed the transmission fluid was three quarts too low, warranting further internal inspection.

Once the transmission was removed from the vehicle, our technicians opened it up to find a failed torque converter and other internal damage that was beyond standard repair. Our best recommendation was a full custom transmission rebuild to ensure that the transmission was properly rebuilt and would provide the durability they needed—not just for this road trip, but for years to come. This is why our transmission rebuilds are backed by the Ralph’s Transmission 3 Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty.

“They got us fixed up and we were able to drive back home without incident,” Ben adds.

Ben and Holly, we are glad we were able to help you in your time of need and get your Ford transmission rebuilt in a timely manner, so you could enjoy the rest of your trip without worrying about your transmission failing again.
