Ford Escape Owner Appreciates Great Service at Ralph’s Transmission
Courtney drives a 2019 Ford Escape. She recently began noticing some driving issues once the vehicle would reach over 40 MPH. It would start to shimmy and seemed to be running roughly. It also struggled to accelerate when in higher gears. Courtney wasn’t sure what the problem was, so she dropped her SUV off at Ralph’s Transmission in Modesto, CA for a free transmission inspection.
Our technicians performed a road test to confirm the issues Courtney was describing. More specifically, the technician could tell the torque converter clutch was shuddering. No fault codes were revealed during diagnostic testing, but inspection of the transmission fluid showed there was likely a serious internal issue. The fluid level was full, but it was very dark and that is often a bad sign of internal transmission damage.
Once the transmission was removed and dismantled for a full internal inspection, it was clear the torque converter had failed. This is a common transmission problem that typically leads to additional damage throughout the system. Ultimately, a full custom transmission rebuild was recommended for Courtney’s Ford Escape. All failing/damaged parts were replaced, while the rest of the components were professionally cleaned and reinstalled. We perform all transmission rebuilds in-house at Ralph’s Transmission and we go through a very careful process to restore the transmission to its original performance level. This is why we back our transmission rebuild services with an industry-leading 3 Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty. Our customers have peace of mind that their transmission will run great again. If not, our comprehensive warranty covers any further issues.
Fortunately for Courtney, she had an extended warranty program on her vehicle that covered part of the repair costs. The Ralph’s Transmission team worked directly with her warranty company to ensure everything went smoothly.
“Ralph’s transmission went above and beyond dealing with my extended warranty,” Courtney says. “They have great customer service and are very helpful.”
During the initial inspection, it was also revealed that Courtney’s rear main engine seal, air filter and oil filter needed to be replaced. We took care of those minor repairs for her, along with fixing a damaged transmission mount.
