Chevy Truck Owner Gets Electrical Repairs at Ralph’s Transmission

Glenn drives a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with over 140,000 miles on it. He recently began noticing some shifting issues in his truck. It was shifting very roughly when downshifting between second and first gears. Then, the check engine light came on and Glenn used his own scanner to find a few fault codes. He brought it into Ralph’s Transmission for a thorough inspection and diagnostic testing.

“My truck was having shifting problems,” Glenn says. “My code scanner gave a few different codes, some of which were shift solenoid errors. I dropped it off at Ralph’s Transmission. I got a call an hour later informing me that it’s most likely an electrical issue. I gave the the okay to diagnose the problem.”

Our diagnostic testing revealed a number of fault codes related to electrical issues. An external inspection of the transmission showed no concerns and our technician was unable to replicate the shifting problems Glenn had described. The customer authorized us to complete a Phase II inspection and diagnostics to get to the source of the problem. Ultimately, further electrical testing found intermittent low voltage at one of the ignition fuses. Our recommendation was to have the ignition switch replaced.

“Received a call later that day and was told the the problem was found,” Glenn adds. “Gave the OK for the repair and asked them to check all shift solenoids to make sure they’re good.”

Glenn also requested a standard transmission service to replace the fluid and filter, and we were able to get a new ignition switch in by the next day to install. Once the repairs were complete, the vehicle was road tested again and everything was running properly.

“I received a call the next day to let me know that all fluid levels and solenoids are okay and my truck was ready for pickup,” Glenn says. “I couldn’t be more pleased with the service that I received from Ralph’s Transmission.”

Thank you, Glenn, for sharing your feedback and we’re glad we were able to resolve this electrical issue with your Chevy truck.
