GMC SUV Owners Get Warrantied Transmission Inspected

Janice and Marshall drive a 2012 GMC Acadia. They were having transmission problems last year when their torque converter failed. They had their SUV’s transmission rebuilt at Ralph’s Transmission in Modesto, which is a service backed by a 3 Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty program. They knew that they could come back to our shop if they experienced any further issues with their rebuilt transmission.

Recently, they were noticing some strange things happening when driving the Acadia. Several warning lights and messages were coming on, including the general maintenance service light, traction light and stabilizer light. In addition, a computer message came up that said the vehicle’s power may be reduced. The lights would come on and off intermittently, and they weren’t sure what the problem was.

Knowing their transmission was under warranty and a loss of power can often be related to transmission problems, Janice and Marshall contacted Ralph’s Transmission to set up an inspection and diagnostic testing. Diagnostics didn’t reveal any transmission problems, but did find a code related to the accelerator pedal. The transmission fluid was full and clean, and no other issues were found during the physical inspection of the transmission. Finally, a road test confirmed the transmission was operating normally. The warning lights were likely related to the accelerator pedal issue, or it could simply be an electrical system malfunction or damaged sensor that was causing these lights to come on.

Ultimately, we recommended they bring their Acadia to a general auto repair shop for further diagnosis related to the accelerator, electrical system and engine. The problem wasn’t transmission-related, so we wanted them to get the vehicle looked at by someone else who could determine the specific issues. The inspection and diagnostics were free at Ralph’s Transmission, but at least they were able to find out their rebuilt transmission was still working properly.

“Simply the best customer service,” says Janice. “Very attentive to your needs. I highly recommend doing business with Ralph’s Transmission.”
