Dodge SUV Owner Gets Free Transmission Inspection at Ralph’s Transmission
Tami drives a 2018 Dodge Journey. She thought she had a transmission problem in her mid-size SUV because it was reacting strangely when she would accelerate. It was like nothing would happen for a couple seconds, and then suddenly the acceleration would kick in. This delay was occurring at random speeds and generally when the vehicle was shifting in higher gears. Tami did her research and ultimately decided to bring her Journey to Ralph’s Transmission in Modesto because we offer free initial transmission inspections.
“Absolutely recommend Ralph’s for transmission needs,” Tammy says. “They did a diagnostic service on my car and was able to tell me what was wrong in a timely manner.”
Once Tami’s vehicle arrived in our shop, the Ralph’s Transmission technicians were able to perform a thorough external inspection, along with diagnostic testing and a road test. The transmission diagnostics revealed no fault code. The transmission fluid level was full. It was just a little discolored and not quite due for a transmission service, so nothing out of the ordinary. The road test confirmed the slight acceleration delays the customer was describing. However, the technician could tell from experience that this was not a transmission problem.
It was ultimately determined that the engine was misfiring under load. As it warmed up and got into higher speeds, it would misfire and this was the cause for the acceleration issues. It was recommended that Tami take her Dodge to a general auto repair shop for a proper engine inspection and diagnosis. Ralph’s Transmission is a transmission specialty shop and it’s understandable why Tami thought this might be a transmission problem. We were able to provide a free inspection and recommend her to a trusted local auto shop for the engine inspection and repairs.
“Absolute best customer service I’ve received from a shop ever,” Tami adds. “I will forever use them for transmission stuff and will always recommend them.”
Thank you for the recommendation, Tami. We hope you were able to get your engine repaired and resolve your acceleration issues.
