Ford F-150 Owner Gets Honest Automotive Advice at Ralph’s Transmission
Leigh drives a 2010 Ford F-150 with over 150,000 miles on it. She began noticing an unusual scraping noise when driving at higher speeds over 45 MPH. The noise would also tend to go away when engaging the truck into 4-wheel drive. She assumed it was a transmission issue, so she brought it to Ralph’s Transmission for a free initial inspection.
“I called in to schedule an appointment and was very impressed with Brianna,” Leigh writes in her Yelp review. “She was very knowledgable and it is always nice to do business where excellent customer service is still valued. Took in my truck and left it overnight.”
Our technicians ran diagnostic tests and performed a thorough external inspection of the transmission. Diagnostics revealed several fault codes, but none specifically related to the transmission or transfer case. An inspection of the transmission fluid showed the fluid level was full, but was a little discolored. The truck would probably need a transmission service soon, but otherwise there wasn’t anything wrong with the transmission.
Further inspection and road testing seemed to narrow the problem down to a wheel issue. That was the source of the scraping the customer had described. Ultimately, our recommendation was to bring the truck to a general auto repair shop for further diagnosis. We are a transmission repair facility. However, we do have good relationships with many excellent automotive shops throughout the Central Valley. We’re always happy to provide a recommendation if we believe someone else can help you more with a non-transmission-related problem.
“I was shocked to hear that they could not find anything wrong that they could fix there, but referred me somewhere else that could help,” Leigh adds. “Extremely honest and helpful. I will recommend and bring any vehicle with transmission issues here in the future.”
Leigh was smart to visit a transmission repair specialist first when she thought her Ford truck might have a transmission issue. In her case, it turned out not to be something we could help with, but we were able to get her pointed in the right direction and it didn’t cost her a thing.
