Why Rebuilding Your Transmission May Be the Best Solution

When you have significant transmission damage in your truck, SUV or car, you may be faced with different transmission repair options. You can repair it, replace it or rebuild it. At Ralph’s Transmission, we specialize in full custom transmission rebuilds. We may be just a tiny bit bias, but there are many good reasons why we recommend this service.

Let’s look at some of the pros and cons for each option:

Transmission Repairs

“Repairs” is a general term that might range from minor repairs and adjustments to replacing one damaged part to dealing with multiple transmission components that have major problems. Certainly, if only a minor repair is needed to solve the issue, that’s what we’ll recommend. There’s no need to do more work than is required to get the transmission running right again. However, if major repairs are required and multiple parts are damaged, then the individual repairs will add up and the final result may not be as strong a long-term fix compared with a full rebuild.

Transmission Replacement

If the transmission is damaged beyond repair, sometimes replacing it is the only option. In most cases, though, you will be able to consider a transmission rebuild instead of simply replacing it. Obviously, buying a brand new transmission is very expensive. You may also be able to purchase a used or refurbished transmission that matches your vehicle. Tracking down the right one can be tricky and you can never be 100% sure what kind of shape it is in.

Transmission Rebuild

When there is significant internal damage in the transmission but many parts are salvageable, we highly recommend a full custom transmission rebuild. We do all rebuilds in-house here at Ralph’s Transmission, performed by our specially trained transmission rebuild experts. What makes a rebuild so effective is that the entire transmission is disassembled piece by piece. Each component that is still in good shape will be thoroughly cleaned and reinstalled. Any faulty or damaged parts will be replaced with new ones. The transmission is rebuilt from the ground up, reinstalled and road tested by our technicians to make sure that it is running like new again.

In addition, all transmission rebuilds at Ralph’s Transmission are backed by our 3 Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty. This gives you extra peace of mind that the rebuilt transmission is going to get you the performance and dependability you expect. If not, bring it in and we’ll take care of any warrantied repairs needed.
