Desiree owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 with over 180,000 miles on it. Recently, Desiree noticed that the transmission began to slip. It would happen when the truck was at a stop or when driving around 40 MPH. Once Desiree’s truck was in our shop, the Ralph’s Transmission technicians were able to run diagnostic tests and perform a detailed inspection. It was determined that the source of the problem was a faulty line pressure sensor. A line pressure sensor (also known as a transmission oil pressure switch) monitors the hydraulic fluid pressure to detect any clogs, line damage or decreases in pressure. In Desiree’s case, the line pressure sensor had failed. It needed to be replaced. A standard transmission service was also recommended to replace the transmission fluid, filter and pan gasket.
