Chevy Silverado Owner Gets Unbeatable Service at Ralph’s Transmission

A technician explores the underbelly of a vehicle.Marco drives a 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500. His truck began experiencing some transmission issues. It would often slip between gears and sometimes wouldn’t move at all when warmed up. Marco knew he needed to get it checked out by a transmission expert, so he reached out to Ralph’s Transmission.

We arranged for a tow from Tracy to our shop in Modesto, where our transmission technicians were able to inspect the vehicle. Diagnostic testing revealed no fault codes, but the transmission fluid was very dark and discolored. Road testing confirmed the slipping issues that Marco had described. A full internal inspection was recommended. The transmission was removed from the truck, so it could be opened up and each component properly inspected.

The failure point turned out to be the torque converter, which is the most common automatic transmission problem. The converter was damaged and impacted several other parts inside the transmission. Our recommendation was to completely rebuild the transmission. The failing torque converter was replaced along with any other damaged components. All healthy parts were professionally cleaned and reinstalled as the transmission was reassembled and reinstalled in the vehicle. All transmission rebuilds performed at Ralph’s Transmission are backed by our 3 Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty, so Marco knows his truck is covered in case any further problems occur.

During the rebuild process, several other issues were discovered. The rear main engine seal needed to be replaced, along with the right manifold pipe gasket, cooler bypass valve and an exhaust pipe seal. Our service advisor let Marco know about these additional problems and he authorized the repairs.

“I’m glad that I found this place,” Marco says. “They are very attentive, professional and their turnaround time is awesome. They towed my truck into their shop and diagnosed it at no charge. They also kept me informed on the diagnosis process step-by-step, and when everything was all said and done ‘including extra services requested by me,’ the cost was unbeatable. Thank you Ralph’s Transmission for getting my truck back on the road…!!!!!”

Thank you, Marco, for putting your trust in Ralph’s Transmission. We were happy to help you and your truck get back on the road!
