Dodge Ram Owner Gets Transmission Rebuilt at Ralph’s Transmission

The Ralph's Transmission logo with 5 stars.Ken drives a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 with over 350,000 miles on it. Recently, he began noticing some potential transmission problems. The engine would rev into high RPMs when the truck was cold and the gears were slipping from time to time. Ken decided to bring his Ram to Ralph’s Transmission for a professional diagnosis and repair.

Diagnostic testing revealed multiple fault codes and the initial inspection showed that the transmission fluid was very low. The fluid looked clean, but smelled burnt. Once the transmission was removed from the truck for a complete internal inspection, a number of other issues were found. The primary problem was a burnt overdrive clutch. The torque converter, overdrive system and governor sensor/solenoid needed to be replaced, among other things. Our recommendation was to perform a full custom transmission rebuild. All worn and damaged parts would be replaced and the transmission would be rebuilt.

A transmission rebuild is the best way to ensure the transmission is running like new again, and it is one of our specialties at Ralph’s Transmission. We perform all custom rebuilds at our Modesto facility and each one is backed by our industry-leading 3 Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty.

“Very friendly and professional,” Ken says in his Google review. “Had my 96 Dodge Ram transmission rebuilt. So far so good. Delivered on time. They gave me an exact breakdown line-by-line of all repair parts and labor. I have a sense of security knowing I have great warranty.”

After the initial repairs were made, a fluid leak was found coming from the cooler bypass hose. It also had to be replaced along with the governor sensor. The new one we installed with the rebuild was not working correctly, so we put in a new one and everything was running smooth after that. This is why we have the warranty program. If Ken ever experiences any further issues, he has the coverage and we will take care of the warrantied repairs for him.
