John lives out in Catheys Valley. Back in 2017, he was having a transmission problem with one of his ranch’s pickups, a 2001 Chevy Silverado with more than 280,000 miles on it at the time. He brought his truck into Ralph’s Transmission for a professional diagnosis. Our technicians found many damaged components inside the transmission, including a failing torque converter and broken planetary gear. The only sensible option was to have the transmission rebuilt and backed by our 3 Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty.

This summer, John noticed that his truck was leaking transmission fluid. He called Ralph’s Transmission and a tow from AAA was arranged to get his truck from Catheys Valley to Modesto for a proper transmission inspection.

“With all the Covid-19 putting our world in a turmoil, the office staff was very helpful,” John writes in his recent Yelp review. “I called up in the morning and they told me to bring it in. AAA here we go to Modesto. In no time at all, they had it up on a rack and called to tell me what they found.”

After further inspection and diagnostic testing, the Ralph’s Transmission technicians found that the torque converter was leaking fluid and had caused some other internal mechanical damage, as well. Our service staff let John know the problems and then our team went to work making the necessary repairs. The torque converter and other damaged components were replaced. The transmission was reassembled and reinstalled in the Silverado, and then the truck was road tested to make sure everything was running properly once again.

Unfortunately, the rebuilt transmission was beyond the original Ralph’s Transmission Warranty by just a month. Fortunately for John, customer service always comes first at our shop.

“They called on a Friday Morning said it was ready, so off to Modesto,” John adds. “We got there, went into the office the girl gave the paper work to sign and it said no charge. No Charge? The pickup was out of warranty by one Month. But the owner, ┬áMario, said to honor the warranty. I thought that was awesome.”

Even though the warranty had technically expired, we weren’t about to charge John for these repairs only a month after the expiration. That’s not the way we do business here at Ralph’s Transmission. Plus, he was well under the 100,000 mileage since his original visit, so we wanted to make sure he and his truck were taken care of properly.

“People just do not give service like that anymore,” John concludes. “I wish all shops could have service like Ralph’s Transmission. John C. and Family from Catheys Valley, in Mariposa County.”
